Wild Wall Series KoelBrett Apricot Launch Dinner on March 1!
Everyone has treasured objects, right? You take good care of it, keep it safe, and even share it with your best friend during special moments, holding your breath and hoping he or she feels the same excitement as you do? We at Great Leap Brewing treat beer the same way, and we are especially excited to share with you our newest creation: Great Leap Brewing’s Wild Wall Series KoelBrett Apricot.
Our Wild Wall Series KoelBrett Apricot is the first beer to be released from our Wild Wall Series. It is a mixed-fermentation beer featuring multiple wild yeast strains and bacteria as well as a generous addition of apricots. With a lovely amber color, this beer emits strong funky and barnyard-like aromas followed by a pleasantly tart and smooth finish with 6 percent ABV. Our Wild Wall Series has a Chinese name, Shiwujin (十五斤). Building a brewery is like building a wall. You have to do it brick by brick. That’s why we chose this name. Jin is a unit of measure equivalent to 0.5KG. And Shiwu is 15. It took 15 jin (斤) of wood to kiln each brick of the Great Wall. Remember, a whole is only the sum of its parts.
To celebrate the release, we have teamed up with contemporary Chinese restaurant Sifang Sanchuan by Mercedes me in Sanlitun – which is famous for its southwestern Chinese cuisines – to host our latest The Chef and The Brewer dinner at 7pm on March 1st, 2019. With six courses and seven beers for 499rmb, this is an event you definitely don’t want to miss! Check the menu and pairings below:
The other highlight of this event is Distant Corners, which is an experimental collaboration between Great Leap Brewing and Jackie-O’s from the United States. This dry and effervescent beer is a mixed fermentation saison brewed with rice, Sichuan peppercorns, and black oolong tea that is then fermented and aged in oak wine barrels. Bright and tart with lovely floral and fruity notes accompanied by a lightly numbing peppercorn and oaky finish, this beer is truly one of a kind.
For those of you who might still be sitting on the fence about this event, we wanted to let you know something: we will not be selling our Wild Wall Series KoelBrett Apricot or our Jackie O’s collaboration in any locations. This dinner will be your only chance to try them. It’s now or never.
